After his short spell at the National Youth Service scheme, he has been practicing as a full-time professional studio artist in Lagos since 2008. Stanley’s figurative expressions exude love and life. Intimate private lives of women and children in southern interiors have always provided prolific source of subject material for his art more any other inspiration. Dexterously, he renders his narrative portrayals chiefly in charcoals, pastels, oils and acrylics, which he employs his adept use of chiaroscuro, lines, and sparing use of colours as an elemental instrument of style in capturing the very essence “inspiring fleeting moments”. Born on 21st April 1968, Nmesirionye obtained a Higher National Diploma from the prestigious Federal Polytechnic, Auchi in 1968.He is a multifaceted artist, fully committed to studio practice. He tells his stories through textured surface art and the inspiration for them arises from the people and environment around him as well as from his imagination. His goal is to connect representational art with abstract and contemporary sensibilities through the physicality of paints on the canvas. Nmesirionye has held several solo and group exhibitions and participated in auctions in Nigeria, Netherlands, U.K, Sierra-Leone, Cameroon amongst other places. Nmesirionye is a member of the Universal Studios of Art, Lagos, where he practices. He also takes out time to instruct and mentor students of art and upcoming artists.

Born 23rd August, 1963, his practice route has taken him from his comprehensive training at the prestigious art institutions of Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State and Yaba College of Technology, Lagos to the execution of private and prominent public commissions. “My art is all about making, being original not faking”. It all revolves around discovery of self, immediate environment, materials and tools. This I believe and sincerely know is life existence itself. We should make it not fake it.” Uduh, like many of his peers, showcases his art on various platforms of the creative world – at national and international level. Several of his sculptures have been acquired through the conduits of international auction houses. On analysis, his perspective of art making, is focused on authenticity, and interpretation of his immediate physical and metaphysical environs, into highly challenging sculptures of natural and abstract forms. Traditional influences, twined with innovative application are certainly key factors present in Uduh’s work, whose materials range from wood, to bronze, to fibre glass. He captures realism in meditative, emotive pieces and communicates this converged language with elongated, cavernous bronzes – concaves emphasizing the convexity and depth of archetypal features. A furtherance of this language is Uduh’s de-construction of the physical form to its barest essentials. He re-imagines and fashions physical characteristics. This sculptural style allows the artist to exploit his tools and materials and to manifest a new anatomy of volume versus void, creating robust, impactful pieces. Uduh’s sculptures encourage tactility and a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree appreciation of his work and thought process.

In 1997-1998 he was one of artists showcased at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of African Arts’ “Poetics of Line: Seven Artists of the Nsukka Group” Exhibition. His paintings are in public museum collections in the United States, Germany and Nigeria, and in private Art collections in 17 countries, notably the National Museum of African Arts, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC, United States of America and the Museum der Weitkulturen, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Tayo runs a successful Advertising business and paints mostly at night and on weekends. According to him “I paint for the joy of painting, just like a dancer would dance for the joy of dancing. If in the process of painting, I have enough work to display for public viewing and I get applauded or chastised, neither response would make me to stop painting. I want people to see themselves in my work. I am not painting me. I paint what I think and distill from what I see and hear. My art is essentially very human. I think every painting is a reflection of something, and every human being should engage in some form”
